Hello, my name is Taryn Sakry and I am a printmaker currently perusing a MFA at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
Within my designs I often employ open, calming, and earthy designs that reflect the landscape and values that I inherited growing up in rural Midwest. At times though my designs take a twist and show the more adventurous side of my personality. Bright colors, loose illustration, and flowing layouts show the influences of my travels abroad and interactions with various people and cultures. I enjoy coming up with imaginative solutions for branding and layout design. Overall, I am open minded, observant, and not afraid to try something new and experimental with my designs.
In my artwork I let my imagination lose. I often dream big and push myself to learn and try new things. The art pieces I create are often a reflection of my mental universe. Sometimes I am trying to convey my thoughts or experiences, other times I am just trying to navigate and translate my subconscious. Through artistic exploration I try to make sense of the world around me. What I share through the final work are the ideas or values that I discovered or am still trying to understand.
